Inbetween Post!

Hi to all our regular followers, and welcome to all our newest ones.

As most of you know, we post our new challenge on the first Monday of the month, so for October's challenge you will have to wait for another week! Winner's will be announced in the following week.

Meanwhile, I found this on Facebook today

I wasn't bad either! Just not perfect! How about you?  Time is such a complex and fleeting idea - how old are you really? I am not talking about how old you are in years, but how old do you feel? I actually think I am about 24/25, except for the days when the joints creak or I see a policeman - they all look so young -  and I get a small shock when I see myself in a shop window or a photograph! Who is that old woman??!!!

So, a hint about our TWIST for October - take time to think about your world; spend time doing what you enjoy!

Here are two cards unrelated to the above - made from a free kit that arrived with a magazine, and made up by me for Father's Day. They provided the background papers and the images and the sentiments. I added the rest from my stash.

Someone has painted up some beautiful work - I just used the suggested layouts from the magazine, so this work is not original. They were both sold.

Please notice there are no stamps used here.

We still get one or two people entering our challenges with a project that has a stamp used in it. I then have to disqualify them. Please don't use digital or rubber stamps for this challenge.

DT CALL

We are looking for several new DT members, as we want to try a two team style, with team A and B producing work for the first and third Mondays only. If you are interested in more details, or to be considered please email me HERE and put DT call in the subject line.

In the meantime have a good week and keep safe.

There is a great prize too

ALSO, we are having a DT CALL

We are having to say goodbye to Hilde - who needs space to fight a bigger battle ....when that battle is won Hilde, we would welcome you back with glee!

and

What is it with getting older? Why do we find it a source of amusement - especially if the recipient is older than the giver? The alternative of getting older is not that amusing - maybe it is the sheer relief that another year has passed, we are still here (well, mostly here) and we get a bit giddy with it all???

Whatever amuses you, show it to us!
REMEMBER: NO STAMPS!

We look forward to seeing your entry HERE

Late Winners Post

Hi my name is Susan and I have recently had some anesthetic...... well, that's my excuse anyway for forgetting to even write this post let alone schedule it! Sorry it is so late!

This post is to announce the winner for August's challenge

 A Significant Birthday!
TWIST: use/create a shaped CARD

We were sponsored for August by the wonderful

Regal Craft
and the prize was
$15.00 voucher to be spent in their on-line store!

The winner of this prize is:

This is a book card - you really should visit the blog and check it out! Love the decoupage too!

Congratulations Clair! I will be in contact with details to collect the prize!

Now, we also have a DT favourite to announce and again the standard was so high it was too difficult to pick only one, so this month there are two! No prize - just honour and glory I am afraid, but I will email through ladies the badge to display if you choose to show blogland your efforts were appreciated!

Love that art deco look

and

Bet her daughter loved this!

Congratulations to you both! We hope you will be back soon for our next challenge - talking of which, what is the September challenge?

Challenge#39: Be Funny

and the TWIST is

to "frame it"

Sponsored by Susan (me) and the Wood Fellow (hubby!)
The prize is this Spellbinders diecut set

Now I made this card for inspiration, thinking it was quietly amusing, and printed the sentiment off using the computer. I am not happy with it - betcha you could do far better!

I love a good bath - probably why I have a few wrinkles!

I hand drew my bath and occupant, and then paper pieced the bath itself

I wet embossed a line across the bath with SU EP Pool Party, and added a few water splashes as well, using a Versa Mark pen. I glued down some cotton wool for steam over my occupant - to be discreet!

When complete, it looked like it needed something else........

......so I chopped the top off, and created a tag using the SU tag punch.......

.....I thought it could be attached to a gift box of bath salts!

Now, your turn to be amusing!
Enter your piece

This may explain the anesthetic!

September is A Funny Time.....

So, what is the September challenge?

Challenge#39: Be Funny

and the TWIST is
to "frame it"

Sponsored by Susan (me) and the Wood Fellow (hubby!)

The prize is this Spellbinders diecut set

So, a great prize and well worth accepting this challenge!

OK, so what will be acceptable for this challenge?

Well, there are many ways you can be funny or represent comedy in your craft - visual gags and images, puns and plays of words, innuendo (but keep it family clean) ......... what could be done here with this, for example?

"Oh Ship, I forgot your birthday!"

I found it on Pinterest. Yes, you can use it - be my guest!

Quotations from the rich, often old and famous can be mildly amusing and attached to an image - a photo, a drawing, an image taken from a magazine or book..........they can make some good cards. Mae West has some crackers and there are lots of images of her on the web! Some of the Vintage sites have great material as well. Some of the craft sites also have decoupage sets.

I have included this here because it is so borderline with the rules of no stamps, including digi's but this one is, I think, still acceptable.  It is NOT a stamp or a digital stamp, as it is a coloured image in a digital decoupage kit purchased from Bugaboo  but there are quite a number of other companies out there that also produce them.  It has been printed out several times and then various bits cut to decoupage.   I also have added to the image with some sparkle..... the rules do say decoupage and we don't stipulate where people can purchase their kits from.

If you want to go that way, then you will not be penalized or excluded from the challenge.

However, the DT have gone another way and they have some amazing inspiration here for you also

                                                            Wynn

This one is hand drawn and the spiders added as is the heart. Idea again from Pinterest.

Using oversized chipboard letters and a felt number.

She has used the Sihouette Cameo cut and print feature to create everything on this card, with the exception of the days of the week washi tape pieces in the upper right hand corner.

Well, there you have it! I do hope you feel inspired to join in and make a Funny card, scrap page or item from paper without resorting to stamps (digital or rubber) - don't forgetto FRAME IT for the TWIST.
